Fred, so far as I can tell there's very little information about Normans on the
Web.
My understanding is that Norman guitars were originally made by an independent
compny somewhere in Eastern Canada, possibly in one of the Martime Provinces.
Then the brand name was bought by LaSiDo, the Quebec-based company that also
makes Seagulls, Simon & Patricks, Art & Lutherie and the various Godin
acoustic/electrics.
The last time a similar question was posed here someone mentioned a discussion
forum dedicated to Seagulls as a good place to find out information. You might
be able to find it by doing websearches for LaSiDo, any of the brand names
listed above, or even on the topic of Canadian-made guitars.

“N”-prefix serial numbers denoting the 1990s were introduced in 1990. The numbers and decals were produced far in advance, and some N9 decals (denoting 1999) were inadvertently affixed to some instruments in 1990. Consequently, some 1990 guitars bear 1999 “N9” serial numbers. A guitar’s model or serial number can provide you with important information about your instrument, such as the name of the model, the year it was made, the location of the factory and how many of its kind were created. This data is critical for determining the age and value of your guitar, whether it be a hollow-body acoustic style or solid. If your guitar’s serial number has 7 digits, the guitar was built in the 90’s and only the 1st digit indicates the production year. One thing you CAN look for is whether LaPatrie, Quebec is listed on the label.
If it is, then you have a LaSiDo model.
